Measuring a book

This week we have been learning about how to measure things in mm,cm,m and km. In this video we show how to measure a book using a ruler.

Experimental Probability

This week we have learned how to digital make a diagram since we have been learning about probability. We did a quick experiment that included getting into partners and roll a die 60 times. Mathematically the more you roll a die the higher chance of the numbers being even.

In my maths class I have been learning about probability tree diagram. A tree diagram is a diagram that presents all possible outcomes of an event. each branch of the diagram shows a possible outcome.

My Reflection

How did I do?

I think Me and my group did a good job. We worked together perfectly and talked about what parts we were going to do that we could agree on. We had a little struggle and disagreement on what flavors we were going to add but still ended up agreeing with the  flavors we choose. Other than that I did good in my group along with my group

What was hard/ what could have been done better?

I think we needed more salted ice so that the ice cream would be more solid. I think the hard part was shaking the bag for 5 minutes since my hands started getting cold once in a while.

What was easy/what did I enjoy?

I found putting the ingredients in since our teacher setted up the bags,ice,cream and that. I found tasting other peoples ice cream was cool because everyone had a different taste and texture.  

Overall I really enjoyed making ice cream because my group and I worked maturely and fairly. I liked tasting other peoples ice cream and making our own ice cream. But if we had more salted ice than the ice cream could've been more solid.

Valerie Adams

Dame Valerie Kasanita Adams (Valerie Adams) is a new zealand shot putter. She is three time commonwealth games champion,four-time world champion,two-time olympic,four-time world indoor champion and was a IAAF continental cup winner twice. Valerie Adams has a personal best throw of 21.24m outdoors and 20.54m indoors. She holds oceania junior record,the oceania youth,world championship record,world indoor championships record and also the commonwealth game records. Valerie Adams was the first woman to win four consecutive individual titles at the IAAF continental cup championship. Valerie Adams started going on a winning streak in August 2010 that extended to 56 wins at elite-lvl competitions. Her Streak soon had ended in July 2015. In 2014 Valerie Adams was the IAAF world athlete of the year and the track and field news Athlete of the year in 2102 and 2013. Valerie Adams had the longest shot put performance from 2006 to 2014.

Steven Adams

Steven Funaki Adams is a New Zealand basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the  National Basketball Association. After playing a season with his hometown team. In 2012 Steven Adams moved to the united States to play collage basketball for Pittsburgh. Steven Adams was born in New Zealand to a Tongan mother and an English Father. Sid Adams his father served in the royal navy. When he retired he settled in New Zealand,where he had 18 children with 5 women. Many of Sid´s Adams children have had sport success due to their size and athleticism. His half sister Valerie Adams is a Olympic gold medalist and a four times world champion shot putter  and his Brothers Warrens and Sid Jr were in the New Zealand National Basketball Association.

Me and my class do a 20min blog spot every Monday because its a way to get us writing and improving on our writing styles. I think I did alright I could've done more But I found finding some of the information hard. I think next time I need to be prepared on what to write and how im going to write it. 

Power lifting

Power lifting is a strength sport. The goal for this sport is how much weights you can lift. A power lifter stands alone on a platform and tries to lift the heaviest weights he can for a single repetition. power lifters perform three events which are: The squat,The bench and the dead lift. A lifter is allowed three attempts for each event. Only the heaviest successful attempt is counted. At the end, the lifters best lift from each even will be added together to make up the lifters total. The benefits of powerlifting is gaining  strength,increases body density,reducing the risk of developing brittle bones and osteoporosis in the future.

Book report

A flower and Broken heart

It is a cold night,snow gently falling throughout the town,street lights can barely be seen,not one soul was walking outside but sitting down on the bench was Roger. Roger sat there in complete silences,not caring about the cold. He looked down at what he has in his hand,a pink flower dancing in his numb hands as he could feel tears forming in his eyes when his version went blurry. Feeling his tears slide down his face to his lower jaw where his tears froze in his beard.  He lifting up one of his hand from the flower he is holding in his hand,placing his hand that was roughly shaking on one of his eyes. Thinking of what happened  as he  felt his heart ripping apart like a sword was slicing him in half. He knew he had been given to many chances but if she gave him a final chance,he could have shown,he changed. He clenched onto his eyes as felt like tearing off his skin. He sniffed up his snort that was about to fall from his nose,he slowly got him,letting off of the flower as when it slowly started falling he felt memories flash through his mind fading away. He started walking off as his figure fades away slowly disappearing in the snow. 

Narrative writing: A warm sleep

This week my teacher allowed us to freestyle on our writing but use different writing styles each time we complete our previous writing. This is a fictional narrative that contains light romance. I think I did really well,I really enjoyed writing this to the point where I would stay up late thinking and writing more of this writing. It was really challenging to think of what to write next. Please give me feedback to help me improve my writing.

Maori

We were learning how to give simple direction in Maori. The direction we have learnt were Haere totika meaning go straight,Piki ake meaning go up, and Heke Iho means go down. our task was to direct our partner we had and get them to the end without hitting the wall. I found this really fun because it was funny when me and my friend direct each other and nearly hit the wall. My next step is to learn how to say left,right and backwards in Maori.

Song Maker

Today we were learning how to make a beat or music on song maker. at first it looked quite childish for our age but when I tried it,I found it very fun to make all sorts of beats and play around with it.

Quality Blog Post

This week our class has been doing quality blog posting and been learning to post better blog post. I think I did really well on this,I found many things challenging because I kinda still struggle doing blog post but I quite enjoyed writing about a Quality Blog post. I could've done this a bit sooner though. 

Book report

The purpose of this blog post is for ¨The Hell Reading challenge¨ when you read books,you have to read 7 to get a free hell pizza,every slice you fill in the closer you get to getting a free pizza from hell pizza. for us we have have to read the book and do a book report it about it. I found most of this hard since this is my first time doing a book report and doing it only in a day. I didn't find anything that easy expect explaining my favorite character. I had a lot of fun writing a book report for the first time,it was challenging since I didn't have much time to do it but I feel like I did well for the first time. what do you guys think I need to work on because I would love some feedback to improve on doing Book report

First experience in collage

This week,on Thursday a group of year 8's and I were going to collage for a day to experience what it is like to be in collage,what classes there are,what they learn,what they have and meeting old friends or new people. for me I was quite nervous and scared because it looked way different compared to primary school and there were new people,most I haven't meet or seen before and teachers. Collage was not what I expected. The Teachers were nice,the people that go to collage were nice they went about their day,they had a tuck shop filled with a lot of delicious food, there was a lot of freedom by that there was a lot of places to walk around and you could go to the pool at lunch if you got clothes. I think what I am going to find hard in collage is where to go since its not like primary. just sitting in one class you have to move in different classes in collage which you can get lost since there are lot of class rooms and corridors to go through.  I had a lot of fun in collage there was a lot of subjects such as wood work,metal work,Performing arts,Science,Food/textiles and other etc. Bay of island collage is an awesome Collage in my opinion I really cant wait to go there next year and meet new people and teachers.

In my class we have been doing math eyes. Math eyes is when you look at something and use math eyes by looking at that image and try find something that is math related.

    We have been working on an inquiry about Maori navigation while using cool technology to help us. we had many other subject we could choose but we decided to go for star navigation since we have a bit of knowledge to help us instead of always using google to help us.
